The quiz that helps you carve out your niche

Many aspiring and current science communicators are told to carve out their niches. If you went through graduate school, you honed your research expertise in a discipline within the life sciences. For example, my research specialties included 16S rRNA sequencing and sourcing fecal contamination, along with cystic fibrosis infectious disease and the omics. Those would be examples of content niches.

But there’s another kind of niche you should consider: that of your personality.

No one can replicate who you are, no matter what career path you took or what discipline you specialized in.

That’s why the key to being a strong science communication is to know who you are, what you have available to share, and what you want to achieve. From there, you can then decide how to communicate in a way that resonates with your target audiences.

This quiz will help you answer the first of these questions. Are you the type to build long-lasting relationships and communities? Or is reading through and presenting your data more your thing? Perhaps you feel your strengths lie in how you tell your story. Or maybe you have a major breakthrough that could revolutionize scientific research forever!

Want to find out which of these personalities you are? Take this quiz now to find out!

What kind of life sciences content should you make?
